Very exciting update today! Last year I started this Extramilest Facebook group to create a community of endurance athletes from around the world, to share experiences in training and racing, and to inspire others to go the extra mile to reach their goals. This group has quickly grown to a community of now 1200+ members from 38 countries. There are a lot of great questions and discussions happening here.

Besides this FB group, I have several other priorities, such as my full time job, creating weekly posts on the Extramilest site, my podcast, writing a weekly newsletter, recording a very large video project, running 4-5 days a week and spending time with my wife and 2 young kids.

I want this Facebook group to get all the attention it deserves. Therefore I’ve asked Csaba Burillák from Hungary and Jeroen-Pieter van der Vliet from The Netherlands to become moderators here. They have a lot of running experience and are already active members of this group. Our goal is for as many people as possible to benefit from each others experiences, questions and answers.

About Csaba Burillák

I’ve been running since I was a kid. In high school I ran as a track and field athlete, participating mainly in 3 km, 5 km, 10 km races. In 1997 I ran a 3:04:05 marathon in Budapest, a couple of months later I did the 180 km cycling and 42 km running part of an Ironman race around my town 🙂 I am a poor swimmer so I skipped that part. Fast forward: in 2017 February I restarted my running on a weekly basis. I changed my diet, started to follow the Maffetone method and did a few races such as a 55 km trail race, a 6 hour race. My short term goal is to go sub-3 in a marathon.

About Jeroen-Pieter van der Vliet

I’m 32 years old and a member of Extramilest since 2017. I run 6 years now, first to improve my health, I have lost 30kg from 110kg to 80kg in a few years. Started with slow 5km races. My first marathon in 2015 went well in Amsterdam with a 3.17 time, but not running on MAF then.

In 2017 I saw Floris famous post about “How to Trained to Run a Sub 3 Marathon” and I was training for the Valencia marathon to run a sub3 (result 2.57). Last year I sharpened my time in Koln to a 2.53. This year I will be running Zurich (28th April) and Berlin (28th September). I’m excited to join Floris (and Csaba) to moderate this positive and energized group of members at Extramilest. I work in the Information Technology sector, that will come in place as a moderator 🙂
