I am a 67 year old runner and have an issue I cannot seem to resolve. In previous builds to marathons, I usually begin working on 10k development for a Spring peak, then half marathon in July before beginning a Marathon build for an Oct./Nov/ race. Mileage range is 45-55 MPW. The last two years I have been in the 43:35 to 43:45 for my 10k and 1:37:22 – 1:37:45 range for the half. In my marathon builds I do add marathon pace work with a final workout 3 weeks prior to my marathon with 10 at easy pace followed by 10 at 7:55 pace (sub 3:30). The closest I have gotten to my 3:30 goal is 3:38 whereas most race predictor sites indicate I should be well under 3:30 based on my 10k and half times. My sense is that my hard days may be too hard and my 18% or so hard runs may be too much. I’m considering enrolling in your program but one question is if the MAF program would be extending my mileage far beyond my 55 max per week I have done in the past.
I enjoy your Podcasts, keep it going!
