Running Feeling Meh?

Running Feeling Meh?

Has running started to feel a bit stale and less exciting lately?

You’re not alone.

Even the most dedicated runners hit a rut sometimes…

But here’s the good news: a small tweak can make a big difference.

Think of it as a running “reboot” – a fresh way to bring the joy back to your runs.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Change your scenery: If you’re a road runner, hit the trails for a dose of nature. Trail runners? Try the smooth rhythm of a road run. If you need some inspo, check out my podcast episode about beginner trail running tips.

  • Run at a new time: Early morning runs (especially at sunrise) feel magical – just you and the world waking up together. This is one of the best ways to start the day and I go for these often.

  • Try something unconventional: Barefoot running on grass, backward strides, or even ditching your watch for a day can help you reconnect with the pure joy of running.

  • Mix up your company: If you always run solo, join a group. If you’re a group runner, take a solo jog and soak in the solitude.

And you know what’s the best part?

These little changes aren’t just fun – they help you become a more balanced runner too.

Walking or running backwards, for example, helps your body move better, keeps you from getting hurt, and even helps you feel calmer. (just don’t bump into a tree or other runners while trying this)

Another one: Trail running helps you engage different muscles and improve balance, while road running helps build rhythm and endurance.

You’d be surprised how small tweaks like these can make your runs feel fresh and exciting again.

Give it a try, and let me know how it goes!
